In discussion with @Steady , thought we might like to have an AFF get together (lunch, dinner) in Tasmania in lieu of AFF Newcastle, sometime on the weekend of 23/24 October.

I'll be sending PMs to AFF members we think are in Tasmania (hoping that it will trigger e-mails to members who aren't currently active) to see how much interest. But don't wait for a PM - if you'd like to be involved, just mention it here, and preferred location/time/date (lunch or dinner). Likely to be in or around Launnie, being central-ish, but if enough interest, could be multiple events. Or maybe just steady, drron and me in a phone booth somewhere :)

Not limited to Tasmanians! @drron I think can be considered an honourary Tasmanian and those with travel freedoms ... WA, SA, QLD at the moment ... welcome to fly in!!

Edit: +1s welcome

Maybe from myself. Lots of extremely busy weeks and weekends in the next couple of months. So can not commit 100% at this stage. Still have other things to complete, but I hope to get them done by then,

Hi, I should be ok to get there one of the days, Launceston would be my preference as I live in Devonport.

Yep shud be around here in HBA that WE and can travel..

if we talking Lonnie/NE than can arrange private Pinot/sparkling tasting at The Ridge, Lilydale

And don’t forget Effervescence - Tas sparkling weekend 6/7/Nov - largely based at Chromy for those still in the state.

if you get a predominant response for Hobart then let’s know - cud sort a local winery lunch with proper notice..

Yes, I’m in Hobart and willing to go wherever on the that weekend! If up in Launceston or here in Hobart !

Thanks for the PM - either day is good for me, with a preference for lunch in Launceston, but elsewhere a possibility.

Why not! Can’t keep talking points, credit card flips and flights with myself. Have a few things to worry about, but will try my best to fit in with any arrangements made, meaning a late notice cancellation from me is possible,. I’m happy with Hobart (prefer), but Launceston or NW Coast works as well. Thanks for the PM @RooFlyer

@Stealthflyer has reminded me that 23 24 October is Hobart Show Day weekend. Might be an issue.

Thanks for the replies so far - I’m anticipating this will be a casual venue affair, with no pre payment required but we will probably need to book, and confirm numbers a couple of days before.

+1s welcome, of course.

Watching this thread with interest. Should the borders between ACT & TAS open with no quarantine requirements, I'd be interested. I am fine with either LST or HBA. Will book tickets based on what's finalised.

Hi all, I'm keen to participate. I should be free that weekend for lunch or dinner. I'm in Hobart, but I'm happy for an excuse to travel north if that's where we land. If it is in Lonnie, I'll probably be able to drag my wife along.

Cheers,
DB

Looks like Launnie is achievable by most who have responded. Lunch best I think given people coming up from Hobart and maybe wanting to go back same day.

But please post preference for Sat or Sun, Lunch or dinner.

Also a venue. I think pub type venue might be best, as possibly more flexible as people cancel or add in?

Suggestions?

Saturday lunch and/or dinner suits me - or just lunch if its Sunday.

Pub is fine here - BYO pub even better......

Doubt I wud drive from Hba for lunch in Lonnie, so wthr it’s lunch or dinner I wud stay overnight and thus my choice not relevant.

Hwver, If the weather forecast if halfway decent then we wud likely be off on the boat for the (Hobart Show) long w/end.

Slightly out of Lonnie town, but the Clarendon Arms in Evandale (airport) is pretty good, partic in the large garden on a fine day. Now run by the people who used/still hv Red Feather Inn so it’s a cut above usual pub stuff..

Though Sunday lunch at the Clarendon Arms would not be good for a large group. It is packed by those who have been to the Evandale Markets.Especially outside on a sunny day even if the temperature doesn't get to double figures.
