Air Australia’s new Brisbane to Melbourne flights will operate twice daily from Monday to Friday (departing at 6.10am and 1.30pm) and once daily on Saturday (departing 7.10am) and Sunday (departing 2.10pm), from 15 December 2011.

Not too shabby a deal, really.

Hope they can sustain it. They would get my money over Tiger if I used this class of airline. (which I don't)

Good prices over christmas too.

Incredible to think there will now be 5 airlines flying the route - Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar, Tiger and Air Australia.

it's excellent for the consumer! We dont have the numbers to have as many carriers as america, but flights are not expensive over there due to the amount of competition, hopefully that trends over to Aus!

To me it seems that Air aus are hoping for virgin to continue to push for the corporate sector and fill the void they would leave in the leisure market. Either that or rely on tiger bringing itself down!

To cheap to say no.... Just booked two return fares MEL-BNE , BNE-MEL - $138 PP.

(especially if it includes 23kgs baggage, which the website indicates is the case (first 23kg bag free))

No credit card fee was also a nice surprise - Perhaps the others can learn from this.

Interesting side note ,I saw on the front page of the daily travel websites that "Covermore" insurance's UK based underwriter has withdrawn their insolvancy cover for Air Aust whilst they conduct a review. It didnt say Covermore has done so but I suppose the underwriter must have concerns about viablilty to do that.

Somewhat off topic but aren't they cutting it fine with their scheduled Honolulu service starting next week, they still havent received their A330 yet.?

They already have 1 330, they are waiting for their second.
