I'm booking an AF flight CDG to GVA return for later in the year. I saw that on the AF site, while doing a dummy booking, that I can input my QFF number. Apart from 3-400 FF points that I possibly earn, are there any other real advantages in this tie-up? The Qantas website mentions a few things such as extra checked baggage (I only travel with carry-on so don't need this), preferred seating (which didn't seem to make any difference within my dummy booking) and priory boarding.

I've flown on a short KLM flight using Qantas points (CDG-AMS). It definitely included checked luggage (can't remember if this was standard or "extra") and our seats were very near the front (just behind the business class). But really you should book these sorts of flights based on price/availability/convenience rather than for the points or (alleged) perks.

300 to 400 FF points for CDG to GVA on a Skyteam airline seems pretty ...heck better than some internal QF flights on QF metal!! ,😄

Hi! I know this is a new request, but I'd really appreciate your help. I'm trying to find a one-way flight from Paris (CDG) to Athens (Greece) on May 5th.

Air France has flights for over $670, and while their frequent flyer program lets me use miles, buying enough miles to cover the flight would cost even more.

Is there a way to see how many miles partner airlines of Air France would require for an award booking on the same flight?

I just searched on Qantas and on Virgin Atlantic and there are no reward flights available on May 5 on those websites. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe AF has not released reward seats to its partners.

A quick Google Flight search reveals that AF's 7pm flight is cheaper (A$487) and there are also cheaper options on other airlines (Aegean has some fairly cheap options).

Thanks Human. I did see the other options but the timing of this flight is ideal as I need to be in Athens early that day. So to get this right, QF allows you to book award flights on AF but as far as you can see, nothing is coming up? In you honest opinion, is this flight cheap or expensive ? Any advise from others too?

Google flights says it's more expensive right now. "The least expensive flights for similar trips to Athens usually cost between A$130–225. "

Transavia and Sky Express both have around a 2pm flight at $400 odd.

Might be worth checking some Air France awards via qantas..l the last few I checked the fees and charges were equal to the paid airfare, plus you then had to use points!

The other thing you might check is a return ticket. Sometimes the return can be cheaper than the one way, just throw it away

I looked into return and multi-city flights but they're pricier than a one-way ticket. Sky Express offers a much cheaper option, but it arrives at 6 pm, which means I'd miss the Greek Easter lunch with my family.
I think I'm leaning towards the more expensive option to attend the lunch, but I was wondering: do you think the fares might increase if I wait to book?

It's expensive, but not surprisingly so. Intra-Europe flights can be that expensive, especially only a few weeks out.

There's an Easyjet flight from Paris Orly to Athens on May 4 for EUR 214 (plus extras). If you can't find any reward seats, and you can fly the day before, that's definitely worth considering too.

Hey Mel, okay so, I decided to give it one more go and started playing around with a return ticket and to my surprise, the total return is cheaper than the one way by $70. Once I arrive in Athens, will I get any money back if I cancel the return ticket. This is what the condition for the return ticket says

Cancelation

Before departureI f you cancel your trip before your first flight's departure, you will only receive a refund for the government taxes and fees, in compliance with the applicable regulations.

After departureI f you cancel your trip after your first flight's departure, you will only receive a refund of the government taxes and fees, in compliance with applicable regulations.
If you change your ticket to a different fare, the non-refundable portions of your original tickets will remain non-refundable.

You might do, but they usually recalculate the fare for travel already undertaken. So that likely reprices it at $470 one way, so yo get back nothing.
