Air New Zealand to wetlease a WAMOS A330 for the AKL-PER route for the NW (Australian Summer) months.

Interesting approach, one wonders if it dovetails generally across the back of
- staff shortages
- fleet shortages / delays in aircraft (787) delivery
- seasonality of demand
- needing “operational spare” (being the reason they’ve effectively touted in the article / attributable comments)

If successful (operationally, economically, profitably), could be a good model (not historically widely used) in the Southern summer when Northern hemisphere (winter) demand is lower and wet lessors have aircraft and crew availability, and airlines keep year round capacity and costs off their books.

The J seats on the Wamos A330 look far better than those currently on the ANZ B787. No PE is a bit of a let down and I see people who had booked the 'Sky Couch' are complaining. We flew the B787 AKL - Per in PE in 2014 and it was good. I would happily fly that PE over NZ J for a short daylight flight like this.

I paid skycouch for this upcoming flight as I have a infant. If I don't get the spare seat I would want to book another one for my son.
What happens now. My new email says skycouch is still available. I have not be refunded or given a credit for what I paid. I'm confused

Where are people complaining about skycouch

Where are people complaining about skycouch
It was on another site -I can't really rember which one. They weren't complaining about the SkyCouch itself but complaining that they had apparently been told that it was no longer available with the change of plane.

In the FAQ it says "If you have booked a Skycouch, we'll move you to an Economy seat. The cost of your Skycouch will be refunded back to your original form of payment and we'll send you an email when the refund has been processed."

Has anyone actually flown these Wamos Air's flight between Perth and Auckland? I am debating if I should give this flight a try. The price is pretty expensive in both J and Y. I know catering and amenities are all Air NZ, but how about service? I heard mixed reviews about Wamos Air!

Thanks in advance

The info page also says no buy on board because that’s usually done through the NZ IFE. So instead everyone gets a free meal!

Air NZ recently changed the offering for PER, HNL and PPT to be normal full service in Y, so they don't have Seats to Suit product options on those routes anymore (irrespective of Wamos).

Don't think this has been posted yet, but Wamos Air will continue operating the PER-AKL route for Air New Zealand until 28 October 2023.
