Note that these "seat only" fares give you a seat on the plane. Unless you have AirNZ status then you cannot preallocate a seat. (you get a BP for the flight and coffee/tea/water on the flight)

It's $20 more to check a bag (Seat+Bag) and $30 more than that to add meal and drinks ("The Works").

"Works deluxe" gives additional benefits of premium check-in, "some extra personal space" and lounge access before your flight for $80 beyond "the works".

Does anyone know what "extra personal space" actually means? I have tried looking around and cannot get an answer. I assume it is not the cuddle class as that should be for long-haul.

Maybe it means they block a middle seat?

The return flights from NZ start from AU125 making a round trip fare of AUD295.

There is also a sale ex NZ to OZ for similar dates:

This was the original implication however, it may mean as little as being seated in an exit row, bulkhead or a seat 32" with pitch rather than 30".

They do try to keep a seat beside a "Works deluxe" customer vacant.

Some good deals to ZQN but not in the period I want

I wish JQ would go down this route for all their flights (the different fees for more and more extras) as their prices now are only $20 more than Air NZ’s to ZQN and they’re not on sale, though very unappealing at the same time

The answer is no ... these "seat" fares do not even earn rewards on AirNZ own frequent flyer program.
