Air New Zealand launched three video promos with a 'spycraft' theme, which heralds an announcement on August 1. There are hints in the promos.

The mention the following:
  • Vancouver (cold this time of year)
  • Bay of Islands (Lovely!)
  • Rugby Players (4 of them)
  • Los Angeles (traffic tricky in rush-hour)
  • Bagley Park (in Christchurch – ‘Beautiful in Autumn’)
  • 777-300ER (‘Blueprint’ – with business class detail)
  • ‘Apple’ (‘No’ – so not New York?)
  • Buenos Aires (Spring has come early)
  • Wellington (Can’t beat it on a good day)
  • All Black portrait (-if I followed rugby, I might know who it is)
  • Disguise (pilots hat and aviator sunglasses)
I'm going for something about flights between the Americas and NZ and Rugby, which I know little about

2019 Rugby World Cup is coming up in September, in Japan.

Buenos Aires reference is for Argentina
LA is for USA
Vancouver is for Canada

I reckon there'll be a few more ads for the other countries.

Anything is better than the previous rap safety video

I flew Air NZ this morning and the new “Air All Blacks” video was showing. I don’t think it was as good as many of their other videos, but certainly easier to understand than the rap video.

I did have to laugh that the current video actually acknowledged that the previous video is problematic.

Interestingly, on my flight last Wednesday they used the “summer of safety” video from a few years ago.

Since they got rid of the rap video in January this year it's been the summer of safety video since. It's a slightly different version that's been edited for most aircraft to include things like "this aircraft has wifi".
