NO idea whether this fare is legit or not but:

I noticed this fare on Jetabroad yesterday travelling out 24.6.10 and returning 7.7.10. When I tried to book, it came up with an error saying the fare was no longer available. Same thing happened when I tried to book it through Expedia. There was no indication of a sale on AirNZ's official website BUT I just managed to successfully book the fare through Orbitz (a US site similar to Jetabroad etc) for USD$886, or approximately AUD$1060! I have a ticket number so I'm hoping the fare is confirmed now...just thought I'd pass it on in case anyone else is able to pick up a similar bargain!

Seems to be a legitimate fare. Fare class QSPC1YA $A893 + taxes etc.

Fare available for departures 5 June - 9 July.
Minimum stay 4 days. Return from last stopover must commence by 18 July.

Very good deal for this time of year, and booking less than a month in advance.

Of course, you can currently book LAX/SFO-xAKL-MEL/SYD/BNE round trips departing in August for USD800 all up.
