Sorry if I post this in the wrong forum, feel free to move if needed
I came across an Air Asia sale as I was browsing around and found these business class seats from KUL-PER so cheap I could just not let them pass. $200 per person one way. Didn't really care what it was like as we needed flights around that time and it gave us decent seats and 40kg baggage allowance. (yay! More shopping )
Well, I have to say it was a nice surprise. Check in away from the rest, which was way nicer and only 2 minutes in a queue. Boarded first and it was nice to sit down and take it easy while everyone else was still trying to get on the plane. The staff on board also treated us way better than I usually get when flying AirAsia. It helps sitting at the front of the plane.
Sorry folks, no champagne but we did get free water bottles!! We also got quite a nice doona and pillow. The seats were really nice (angle-flatbed) but I have to say that if you are on the taller side there will be problems as my husband discovered. Included was also one of their famous (or should I say infamous) air plane meals that is worse than cattle-class on most other airlines  But then again, the flight was merely 5 hours and one can survive without it. I did like that they asked us when we wanted it served rather than just throwing it out when they feel like. Meals have to be pre ordered and I opted for some Mac and cheese with meatballs, because I figured that no-one can fail that one! Either it wasn't too bad or I was just very hungry.
Another thing I liked was the bathroom. One bathroom, just for the passengers in our class and it was cleaned and tidied up after every visit.
Actually I am quite happy with what I got, especially for $200. I would never pay full price (around $900), thats for sure, but I would be happy to do this on a sale again. Way better than normal cattle class seats. One have to remember that it is after all a low cost airline but this is an alternative I would be happy to use more times.
