Airline Credit for VA code share flight on SQ Metal booked through Expedia

QUESTION

Normally I redeem but for my daughter's boyfriend he had for 9th April a VA Code share flight booked through Expedia but flying on SQ and SilK Air to Koh Samui return..

Expedia have now offered an Airline Credit for the flight as SQ have cancelled the flights.

Cash refund would be best of course, but seems unlikely and it seems that agents are allowed to only offer credits/vouchers as flight was cancelled as a result of government direction (???)

With the airline credit, does anyone know precisely what " You will receive a travel credit with the airline" means with Expedia.

Is it as I fear for VA flights only (ie they may not be in business still by the time I could use the ticket).

Or is it for:
- any flights, by any airline?


If anyone know what this means or has had one issued with more wording I would appreciate it.
- flights with SQ (much more likely to survive CV 19)

Who ticketed the booking? If Virgin they would be the ones issuing the IOU. One day. Sounds like a lot of tail chasing to sort this one. Good luck.

Well booked thru Expedia and all correspondence has been from them. It is shown as a VA flight.

The booking shows thru Expedia as

Melbourne (MEL) → Ko Samui (USM) 9 Apr. 2020 - 12 Apr. 2020 , 1 one way ticket

The airline credit was mentioned in a separate text sent the next day that to accept you have to reply too. The above and earlier advice states refund and so I wonder if the text is a bluff to try and get a credit accepted rather than a refund.

What are the first three digits of the ticket number? If it is 795 the credit will be with VA. If it is 618 the credit will be with SQ.

Thank you....but bugga as I feared it is 795

So if VA falls over, which seems most likely, it then becomes an attempt to be a credit card claim back as was paid for with an ANZ credit card.
