Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get a bluetooth airplane jack adaptor?

(ie double prong device that plugs into the airplane head phone socket that will broadcast bluetooth so my bluetooth head phones can receive the signal).

All I could find was a mitone mitba10 and am looking for other products.
MiTone MITBA10 - MiTone

Would a bluetooth adaptor that has a single 3.5mm pin work?

Thanks

I doubt you'd be allowed to use a transmitter on the plane. If I'm correct this would render the question moot.

Different rules for different companies. Eg BA allows you to use them as long as they are off for take off, landing and taxi-ing.

This woudl be such a specialised product, I think you will struggle to find it.
There would be plenty of BT devices that can plug into audio jacks, like vehicle ones, but they need to be powered externally.

IMO its a waste of money, sure as eggs you are eventually going to leave this on the plane, its just a matter of time.

I wouldn't look specifically for the two prong jack - I think you will be looking for a long time. Just get the adapter for the two prongs (either spend the $10 at a local electronic store) or look online.

After that, any 3.5mm stereo jack Bluetooth transmitter will work. I use Bluetooth Transmitter| Music Adapter | Saturn Pro - Avantree at home to create a wireless link. Rechargeable, and can be either transmitter or receiver (depending on what you want). You can find local suppliers. They also come as pairs intended for creating Bluetooth links, but a cheap way of getting two for his-and-hers.

Just an update.

I ended up buying a bluetooth transmitter from ebay and plugged it into the airplane jack audio connector. I checked with the cabin crew for permission before using it. All worked really well with BOSE QC35 headphones. Very happy with the outcome.

I was going to say ebay, thats we're all our "thingy-me-bobs" come from.

Hubby got a new water/shatter proof Otter phone case the other day and found out he cant connect his bose headphones to it as per normal so had to buy a thingy to make it work.

Hi funkyr,

Which adapter did you end up buying and how easy was it to pair with the headphone not having a phone or visual interface in between the two devices?

Cheers,
BK

I have the one Jaycar sells. It works OK and easy enough to pair, but it was fairly expensive ($50 or so seems to ring a bell). If you use the on-board wifi ife, it's easier to just pair to your tablet/computer. I've found my HP has no drama simultaneously using wifi for the ife streaming and Bluetooth for the audio. I've also been using Bluetooth for years now on planes and no one has had any objections. I think the old thing about "no transmitting" devices became a bit outdated the moment airlines started streaming wifi ife and headphone manufacturers started selling Bluetooth NC sets.

Just bumping this as I'd like to take only my QC35 on my long haul in a couple of weeks.
Anyone know what's the best adapter to buy that will fit in QF A380 ?

I wanted to know if the USB ports delivered sound? PS3 has pulse elite headset that is Bluetooth and uses a USB plug.... Anyone tested tried on a plane?

So I bought the Bluetooth recommended by moa999
and used it on QF1. Worked well, takes about 2 hours to charge and runs for 12 hours. Range of 10m.
Reasonably impressed with it, very small and fits in the Bose case easily. 01491272968.jpg
