We have a domestic flight into Istanbul arriving 5ish and an international flight early next morning. It didn't seem worthwhile going into Istanbul just for the night, so was looking to stay at the airport. I have come across two that seem OK - Tav and Raddison Blu. Any opinions on these ( or an alternative). thanks!

There are two airports in Istanbul. So make sure where the flights arrive and depart from as one is on the Asian side and the other on the European side. Traffic in Istanbul can be horrendous.

I'd also be interested in peoples' thoughts on this. I'm passing through IST next month with a friend, arriving around midnight on a domestic flight and departing at around 9am the next morning on an international flight. My friend suggested we sleep at the airport.

Are you flying TK or any other star alliance airlines; and are you flying business or Gold FF.
If yes to both, then the TK lounge in IST has rooms with beds

Flying on Star Alliance airlines, yes, but sadly I have no star alliance status. That lounge sounds great though!!

bummer. Not sure about sleeping at the airport then; it's very big but rather noisy. Tried searching for the paid lounges or Priority Pass lounge if you have access?

We are flying into Ataturk from Cappadocia on Turkish Air and out again from Ataturk on BA. Yes the traffic is horrendous (we were there in 2009), which is why I want to stay at the airport, rather than trying to get out again in the morning.

The one hotel I am looking at - TAV, has rooms both airside and non-airside. So if you already have boarding passes for your international flight you can go through and then get an airside room. It is not a cheap hotel though - not expensive but there might be cheaper options.

So have booked at the TAV and will update here after we stay there in May. It appears to be walking distance and there is a free shuttle as well.

TAV website has no prices. Do you have any idea of the rates per hour airside, and what facilities are available within airside rooms?

Sorry haven't been there so don't know. We have booked a room landslide and prices were $200 to $300 per night depending what you booked. From trip advisor reviews I got the impression airside was a bit more expensive than land side and also no windows. I couldn't get the booking engine at the Tav site to work, so ended up booking via booking.com.
