Flying [-]MEL[/-]SYD-MEL on QF415 this morning we had a particularly jovial Captain. He was adamant that we would depart on time. Suffice it to say an A380 was being towed behind us so we pushed back a little late from the gate.

Bit of a hold at the runway but he assured us we would make up the time. About an hour into the flit the Captain advised that as we had gone fast and low early on we had skipped ahead of a couple of competitors aircraft and ATC were kind to us so we would be landing exactly on time and we did.

This was all well and good but seemed a little unnecessary to be that adamant. Then as I got up to disembark I saw Alan Joyce in row 4... Guess it is not a good move to make the boss late for his meetings.

I did note he was jovially chatting with a couple of paxing FAs and went for a chat with the pilot.

Boeing Sky Interior - the cotemporary look for Seattle manufcatured aircraft these days

Hey Serfty, I know what a BSI is, but I was jokingly asking if this particular flight featured one. I was referring back to something I heard about Alan Joyce not knowing his products. ;)

Also, nice sneaky edit there ;)

I suspect at the time it was a 767 on MEL-SYD (8am departure)

I also don't think AJ would be in Row 4 on a 738

QF415 is a SYD-MEL flight... and I think from simongr's other thread he was doing SYD-MEL..

Burn more fuel & cost the company more VS get the boss to the meeting on time????

Clearly we know what decision the Captain made.

LOL!

OGR was the beastie - deffo SYD-MEL and now heading back to SYD ...

Yep - 763 Int'l config with "new" interiors.

Also yep not MEL-SYD - it was SYD-MEL - that's what happens when posting threads in the car from the airport.

sorry to go OT.. but you mention 763 intl config with 'new' interiors...does that mean QF have kept the existing 'dreamtime' 1-2-2 config/seats in J/C and reupholstered them in leather??

Yes, apparently so.

Not sure if this has been reported before but I just boarded a intl config 763 (I.e. 1-2-2 in J). Seems like the dreamtime J seats have been recovered in leather a Q streaming installed.

The config remains the same 1-2-2 and there are leather seats - what I can't say is whether they are still Dreamtime seats under the new leather. I expect so.

The reason for the "" around "new" was that the old crew rest area is still there and looks a little dated.
