Hi Fellow-AFFers

I had a booked SYD to PER rtn on flexi-saver and needed to change dates.

The dates that i wanted required me to pay extra ($80 circa) to keep it a flexi or downgrade to a super-saver. I paid the extra to keep it flexi, which is understandable....as fares change, blah blah.

Not i need to change it and the system errors out with 8401 and tells me to call cust service.

I called cust service and they advised me that now i have to pay $40 for the privilege of his service...i argued and he said that its my problem that the online tool is very simple and that their booking system amadeus is very expensive to maintain....i'm thinking, thats QF's problem not mind.

Am i being unreasonable to ask for the amount to be waived as its their system limitation? I feel like being ripped off and double charged....

btw- its not the $40 but the fact that I spend so much money and show them loyalty and this is what happens.

Sorry to be whinging....

You are being ripped off and QF is getting very good at doing this.

Was this the Platinum Desk you were talking to? I would keep mentioning the system error number and saying over and over again, while not raising your voice nor getting angry at the person, that you are a Platinum and you are not going to pay them for a system error that their IT system caused. Always ask to speak to their manager, which will normally not happen but they will say they got the OK to waive the charge. I would bet this is written into their flow chart.

As for loyalty, at the present, from what I have experienced, this is a one way street, with benefits stripped / "Enhanced" from their WPs. QF today is not the QF of 10 years ago, not even the QF of 5 years ago.
