I have only flown Sydney- Cairo return on Etihad and my account is showing 500 SC!

I have never flown VA, It took me 8 months to become Gold on QF.


Am I already gold even if I have never flown VA before?

As I found out recently, the requirement to fly on VA is waived for a limited time while they’re trying to beef up numbers.

Another member will chime in with the exact date for when you need to start flying on Virgin Australia to keep your status.

Taken advantage of the no fly VA requirements (comes in August) and great Ethiad SC earn rates (change end May)

Same here, but on SQ. A bit of family pooling, a grand total of 2 domestic flights on DJ, and I have just hit Platinum. August 25 this year is when they start to count the flights on DJ/VA.

Well, with all the domestic flight that I have this year, I'm looking forward to try something different than Qantas.


I will give VA a go and see if it has changed much this my last flight with them 4 years ago.

Status is not yet updated on my VA profile. How long does it take?

I called this morning to follow up on a missing point claim... Friendly staff on the phone and very efficient, it was done in 1hr.

Was the Etihad flight on a VA flight number? If not then you will have the SCs but not the sectors to quality for Gold.. I think..

[SUP]1[/SUP] Based on the number of Status Credits earned in the previous 12 months
[SUP]2[/SUP] Eligible sectors will only be a part of your membership assessment from August 2012

Sectors don’t count until August as noted twice.

Probably just taking its time to tick over.
