I am looking at an opportunity to use my Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night during a stay at the Intercontinental New York Times Square. I note the rate quoted excludes taxes and "amenity fee". I assume I am going to charged the Amenity fee for both nights - the paid night (at higher rate than would otherwise apply if not using the complimentary night) and the complimentary night. Will I also be charged the "taxes" for the complimentary night?
I have read elsewhere that the Amenity Fee of USD40.17 per night includes USD$25 food and beverage credit and USD15 laundry/dry cleaning credit per day. Now as an Ambassador member and Diamond elite member I am already entitled to free breakfast for two people, plus a USD20 food and beverage credit for the stay. So does this mean I would get USD70 food and beverage credit for a 2-night stay?
But paying the amenity fee to receive the food and beverage credit kind of defeats the benefit of free breakfast as a Diamond status member, especially given the fact I could buy a decent breakfast from a nearby NY diner for less than $25.
But even with the additional fees, its still cheaper than paying the rate for 2 nights (even with the corporate rate I can use), so probably still a reasonable use of the complimentary night and a night at a Broadway theatre show as we transit through NY. I just want to know what I will actually be charged for the stay and not be caught out by all the +++ at check-out time.
