Hi, a couple of questions regarding a booking I am trying to make to Dublin.

1) Qatar airlines have now started a route from Melbourne to Doha and then direct to Dublin. I am trying to determine availability and have been using the BA site . This provides information from Mel to Doha but only shows flights via london onwards. Is there any other tool that might provide me with availability

2) There is only 1 and 1/2 hours in Doha. I have never travelled though that airport and am wondering is this a suitable amount of time in an airport

3) According to the American airlines award chart if you go from south pacific to Europe in 'business/first' cabin you require 85000 points. As I am going through Doha (and not other points in the middle east) can I get away with Melbourne Doha (first) and Doha Dublin (business) for this amount of points or am I misunderstanding the points system.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Michele

The routing is fine vai DOH, but you will be charged 115K which is the first class award for the entire journey (priced as highest cabin flown). The 'business/first' is not applicable in this case - it refers to two cabin aircraft where F might be the highest cabin offered, but is sold at business class pricing.

The BA site does show QR availability so if you're not seeing any direct flights then they're not available.

I've seen connections as little as 55 minutes in DOH. If you can book it on the one ticket, you're protected.

If you do find availability on BA site and then the Australian number AA call centre can't see it don't give up call the USA number, get them to hold it then ring the Australian number and pay for the taxes.

My most recent award CPH-DOH-PER-BNE could not be booked with the Australian centre in Fiji but there was no problems finding the availability from the USA customer service reps.

Good luck ))

Croupier, can you please confirm how many points for this route?

Yep exactly. Fiji call center was unhelpful and couldn't see the availability, they couldn't even see what was bookable on AA website which was also different to what BA was showing which turned out the AA call center could see.

It was a painful booking but got there in the end )
