American Express Card Platinum Annual Fees to rise to $1200

Folks,

I have been unusually distracted of late - my work/email backlog is horrendous - due to taking annual leave in a region with no network coverage and coming back to town and having a family member pass away.

Somewhere in amongst everything else I seem to recall something from Amex that was said amongst everything else that the annual renewal fees for my Amex Platinum Charge card was increasing from $900 p/a to $1200 early in the new year.

What does everyone else make of this increase?
Does Amex want the business?
Is it no longer profitable for them?


I have been with Amex for most of the past 30 years.
What are other Amex Platinum Charge Card holders going to do?
