I must say I am having great fun with the Amex Connect Offers - so far I've gotten $20 back from Dan Murphy's, $10 back from Woolworths, and $15 back from Liquorland.

Despite having had several Amex cards before, I didn't know this existed until a short time back. I spoke to my friend the other day who's had an Amex card for ages, and he didn't know either.

I've got two Amex cards now, so I can double up on the offers.

Does anybody else regularly check the Connect offers?
Cheers,
Renato

There's a whole thread on them. They are offered directly to Amex -b randed Amex holders via the app and main website too, but for co-branded cards you need to user the connect page. In the app it's the "Offers" tab.

They usually appear automatically on my Amex app for Amex-issued cards. I then register any bank-issued Amexes via the Connect site.
The thread "New Statement Credits" in this forum will remind if not.
I agree; they have been good lately

Yes I only discovered these a couple of weeks ago too. Managed to get the Woolworths $10 one and the $50 credit from Moët Hennessey :)

Personally I preferred the days when they used point promos.

Now they have switched to these cash-back deals, there is little one can do with these to achieve out-performance to maximise value apart from having multiple Amex's which I do. But in the scheme of what used to be on offer it is chicken-feed.

But I used to be able to extract vast sums of MR Points from Amex in many different Promos. In this case the "good ole days" were indeed much better!

I'm with you. Much rather an opportunity to get some bonus points happening. My last one was a Hotel Club booking which attracted 10 bonus pts per $. That was an easy 11,000 pts for $1,000.

Having said that though, getting cash back for regular spending is still welcome.

Darn - back in March I booked seven hotels using Booking.com. I hope the Hotelclub offer wasn't going back then when I had my old Amex card and booked seven hotels.

Thanks Guys - I may be missing out without the app, but it doesn't load on my Android 2.3 phone.

How many points did one get back in those days?

Take the liquorland example - spend $100, get $15 back. That's about the same as spend $100 and get around 2100 points back ( valuing Qantas FF points at around 1.4c for domestic flight)

Or Safeway which is better - spend $30 get $10 back. Which is about the same as spend $30 and getting 1400 points back.

I love, or rather loved, Point Runs. The challenge, and fun, with a Points Promo was how to maximise it, without buying things that you did not need. The last one was a long time ago now.

Most I would get tens of thousands on. Some were just a few thousand here or there.
Many were worth over a 100K
One was over 500k
Biggest was 2.9 million.

During a year they would add up very nicely. For many years I was after adding in some credit card joining bonii and normal spend clocking up a million or more each year, with virtually no business related spend, and not much from paid flights.

Point Promos have been virtually non-existant this year from CC's.
Everday has chipped in say 50k, with most from promos rather than 1 point per $1.

Fortunately CC joining bonii's have been good, and that has clocked up 500K otherwise it would have been a real drought. However such generosity tends to come and go, with most years not being as good.

I do suspect though that my days of easy points is coming to a close. Shudder the thought of buying points or interantional flights again as in 30 years, witha family of 5 for a big chunk of it, I have only rarely done so for my holiday travel, and mainly deep discount specials!

When I cottoned on to the promos (I started looking after reading about the Pudding Guy) and how to maximise them, is when I started flying the 5 of us in J or F.

I do have a nice stash still, but I think it will be steadily whittled away.

So the current $15 here or $50 there does not oild great allure. Yes I am saving say a $1000 or so per year. But I am used to earning $tens of thousands of flights each year, and in some years a lot, lot, more.

Thanks for the very thorough explanation, it certainly sounds like they were indeed the good old days compared to now.

Shame I wasn't savvy back then. I'm envious.

Currently have 11 Amex cards which I am using for the offers:)

Now, that is a lot of cards. I am curious - but I won't ask.

You just prompted me to think about my cards, and I remembered my wife's supplementary card. So I just logged into her account and found that she had the same offers as me - which I've saved to her card.
Cheers,
Renato
