Hi All,

My Amex Ultimate card is up for fee renewal in the next few weeks, so I'm planning to cancel it. Sad as its earned me over 160k points in its year of operation, but I'm not paying the $400 fee again without a bonus. I've referred my partner instead to pick up a couple of extra bonuses that way.

My plan has been for her to back refer me after my year is up (and before hers) to harvest another pair of bonii, however I note the eligibility criteria now indicate an 18 month exclusion period applies. Is this new for Amex? I was sure it was 12 months like the other banks when I applied.

It makes me wonder if I might just keep hold of mine if they offer to waive the fee.
