I went to add my (adult) kids as additional card holders on my Platinum Charge card.

When you press the buttons to go through the process it displays a list of available cards, one of which was the Amex Elevate & Elevate Premium

Those cards don't appear anywhere on the Amex website to apply for them separately and rather than being able to add additional card members online (like the other cards including Gold and Green which haven't been available to new users for years) it required you to call Amex

Does anybody have any info on these particular cards?

Also, a Centurion Card holder can get Platinum additional cards for family members. Any wise soul have any insight into the Amex logic that prevents Platinum holders enjoying a similar privilege? That would have been my preference?

These cards are a hangover from the Westpac Amex partnership which was terminated earlier this year. Lots of info in this thread: AMEX Westpac Altitude programme ends 24 Feb 2021

If you held a Westpac Platinum Amex card, you were transferred to an Amex Elevate.
If you held a Westpac Black Amex, you were transferred to an Amex Elevate Premium.

Both cards had almost identical benefits to their predecessors (some minor differences pointed out in the thread linked above) but instead of being Westpac issued they were issued directly by Amex. I don't believe you can apply for them as a new cardholder, and frankly there isn't much point as other Amex cards offer better value.

Amex pushed for Westpac card holders (I was one of them) to transfer across to another Amex product - in my case, I was offered 60k points + $200 statement credit to 'upgrade' from the Westpac Black Amex to the QF Ultimate, which I took them up on.

Pardon my ignorance, but why wouldn't you just request an additional Platinum card? Have you maxed the 4 supps already?

Platinum Card holders can get cards for other family members foor free - different numbers, and are all billed back to primary cardholder
You can also have a Platinum Reserve Credit Card issued to supplementary Platinum Charge Card holders (but no longer AU$400 travel credit) One supplementary charge card holder caan get a full Priority Pass membership, others get a watered down version
The elevate card Ive never heard of - but a quick search shows it is a reiteration by Amex of a cobranded Westpac Amex Credit Card

Charge cards have premium Ascent membership rewards which means can transfer points to multiple air and hotel programs rather than being locked into qantas or VA

Thanks for the info folks, much appreciated

Have the Platinum Charge and the Reserve Credit cards. Didn’t want to get the kids the credit card because I’ll hand it back should they ever take the $400 travel credit away from existing card holders

No, haven’t used the 4 additional Platinum charge cards and did get them for the kids. It’s for emergency use only but just wasn’t sure that a 19 & 22 yr old should be gifted a Platinum Card that they haven’t …. well ….. earned. It’s the emergency availability of my funds that was important not the benefits - I’d have given them a Green Card if it were available

One thing that did surprise though was that Amex online comes back with ‘you’re application is being reviewed’. I hadn’t really thought of it as an ‘application’ but merely a request to access one of my available benefits. When I didn’t receive a confirmation or even acknowledgment of any kind within 48hrs I spoke with Platinum Customer Service and asked what could possibly be reviewed bearing in mind that I was responsible for the charges and they were in position of years of my (good) account activity. No idea. They’re talking 5-10 business days which is positively glacial.
