It is time to pay my yearly membership fee of $195 (been a member for many years) to Amex.
i am wondering what experiences people have had recently requesting tHis fee to be wavered.
Some years I have had it wavered but last year they cut the fee in half.
with the extra cost Bank charges? We have to pay or use a visa for free is increasing is it worth the membership fee. I do use the card regularly.
all suggestions on getting fee wavered would be appreciated, or any other advice. My husband and myself are part pensioners/part self funded but do not have the large income required to obtain a different Credit Card.
Thanks for any advice.

I've had my fee waived for this card for, I think, almost 10 years since I've had it? All I've done is say I really love the card but can't afford the annual fee (which is the truth). However, this year, they offered me QFF points instead of a fee credit. It worked out to be around 5 or 6K more points than the annual fee in gift cards, so I reluctantly agreed.
They do look at how much you put through your card. For what it's worth, I don't put much more than 20-30K through it per year, but then I'm not a business owner who puts through huge amounts on what is actually a 'personal' card.
I don't think I'll accept this again next year, so it might be my last year with this awesome card, which is a shame. But finances (not card perks) denote the decisions!

Thank you for this information. I must ring them this week. We probably use our card for the same amount $ Do you know how many FF points they offered
Cheers

I can't remember exactly.. But as I said, it was the annual fees-worth in gift cards plus an additional 5-6K.
Best of luck to you! Just remember, your business is usually of more value to them than your annual fee - I cantunderstand why, especially when the balance is paid off every month. But then I'm not sure how they work? Do they get a cut of your spend each time you use your card as payment?
