Hi,

Does the Platinum Edge get access to FHR or only the charge card?

Me to. I would love to get the FHR benfits without going for the Charge Card.

So if you ring up FHR and give them your Platinum Edge or Reserve number it wouldnt work?

Nope. You wouldn't even get to speak to the team because they only service Platinum and Centurion. They are a travel team just for those two cards - not a separate FHR team

Oh and to be perfectly honest, if I pay $900 and you don't then I would expect this access to be restricted as it is one of the last few interesting features on this card...

I would get the Charge card if the yearly fee was the same as the US one which $450USD and there wasn't a $100000 salary requirements which I don't meet , hence my finding an alternative way to get access to the FHR program with its Perks.

Well the cards are what they are and the features are available to those who are eligible.

Virtuoso is a travel group that provide very similar benefits to FHR, often with the same properties.

Eligibility is open to all who book the hotel stay through a Virtuoso accredited travel agent. You will find that there are quite a few in Aus.

You will not find Platinum card holders helping you try and sneak some of the benefits for free as our cards have been devalued and it isn't fair to be throwing the benefits to other card holders who are not eligible

Wow. Where was I asking to "sneak some of the benefits" or "screwing the system"? All I asked if there was an alternative Platinum card (like the Edge or Reserve if you call) that had the FHR benefits. I already know about the Virtuoso Program, FSPP, etc. Again Wow.

I don't think they can sneak in and use the benefits - first you'll need to be ID'ed as a plat charge account holder before they will do anything and once they've found something for you, isn't it a mandatory requirement for the charge to go on that card number as well?

And the Cardholder would have to show their card when checking in as well.

Now that I have stumbled across this thread can someone give me a one or two sentence about the worth of the Fine Hotels and Resorts perks with the platinum card.
Thanks in advance

I've had some good success with the benefits...

Four Seasons Bangkok
Booked the cheapest room and was upgraded to a pool-side cabana room. Had dinner using the credit and it was pretty good.

Mandarin Oriental Macau
Some kind of upgrade to a room as big as my apartment and used my credit towards a massage that was fantastic

I've aways successfully got the late check out and all the other amenities...

Are the room upgrades 100%? Or has anyone used FHR and not get a room upgrade?

I'm sure it's possible if the hotel is full etc, and there's always the chance of a one level upgrade rather than an amazing multi tier one.

Pretty sure they are 'subject to availability' and not guaranteed...

The room upgrades is not always guaranteed and this has happened to me on two occasions throughout the year. There was this one Hotel group that denied me an upgrade (i am not sure if it is on purpose or just my luck) However, I find that I always get the other benefits such as food credit, late checkout etc.
