I have an Amex Velocity card and two lounge passes are included. I've had this card a couple of years and never used them. I didn't realise I even had them until a few months ago. It would have been handy if I'd received actual passes in the mail as I really don't have any idea how to use them. I found an old archived thread on here which said you just turned up at the Lounge. I assume they can look it up and see if you qualify. I don't normally need them as I travel alone anyway and could get a guest in but now the family is old enough for them not to let us in all together I will need to use them.

Do they work for international lounges too? I can't imagine they could just look them up in the Oneworld lounge in LAX. We were over there last year and I could only take one teen (and no wife!) into the lounge there. As I said at the time I didn't even know I had these lounge passes. If I had I wonder if they would have worked.

Anyway I'd be interested to know. We've got a domestic family holiday coming up later in the month so will have a chance to test it then.

Velocity dont do physical passes, they are electronic and attached to your Velocity account. Give them your card and they will access them.
VA dont have any international lounges (and arent part of Oneworld) so you can only use them at VA domestic lounges.

So what is that lounge in LAX I go to? I know it's not a Virgin lounge but isn't it Star Alliance (that's what I meant when I wrote Oneworld) which allows us in?

Yes, Star Alliance. Which access to will disappear when VA move terminals.

But as blackcat said, VA lounge passes only work domestically. You can see them online in your velocity account.

You also receive 2 passes to the AMEX lounge in Sydney International if that is of use

Thanks. I've never even heard of that lounge. Where is it in the terminal? Any good?

(answering my own question: where is it: Located next to Gate 24, Terminal 1 Departures)

I found it to be pretty nice for a change of pace or if you have nothing else.
