AMEX PLatinum Charge Car Rental Insurance

Hi All,

Just wanted your opinions on this. I will pay for the car rental either avis or hertz in NZ on my plat charge card. I'm from SYD. Do I need to purchase the additional car insurance provided by hertz or avis or am I covered with the plat charge card?

Also has anyone had to claim using the charge cards insurance for rental cars and what was your experience like?
