Hi all,
There's been a number of threads over the years complaining about AMEX Platinum Charge, particularly dropping service/benefits for increasing cost.

I'm interested though - as maybe this is something we don't put enough value on - what kind of "not so obvious" (e.g. bookings at any normal restaurant) things have you used the Concierge service for?

I'm thinking that I probably often waste my time doing things myself when I could get them to do it, as I'm sure many others on here do also!

Cheers

Well I don't know if this counts as the 'normal restaurant' booking, but I find the table guarantee extremely useful for their partner restaurants. I don't ever recall being turned away by AMEX on bookings for their partner restaurants, and being a single male in 20s, most of my personal dining reservation requests have been on the spur of the moment bookings, mostly on the day of, or the day before. I can't say I've always gotten the timeslots I wanted but these last minute booking experiences definitely have been very positive.

I needed a table at Catalias on a booked out day,
i asked them about Amex plat they said the concierge had to book so I called
they did
we had the best table in the house.
not worth 1200 but if you get a deal and all the other perks ,then it is.

They've never managed to get a table despite calling them 3-4 days in advance. 100% failure rate here.

I didn't fine Plat very helpful when I used them, but since I gone to Cent, I use them for booking restaurants especially overseas, and getting hard to get stuff or things that is not available in Australia. I bought a set of special wheels for my car that is only available from Japan made from military grade aluminium; wine that is only available through restaurants, organise an organic only dinner in one of the restaurants; finding a certain item that no one seems to stock. I am not sure if it is just because I found a concierge who takes her job seriously as in the Cent discussion thread, not everyone is having similar experience to me with regards to the concierge.
