Although it may seem attractive, half the value to 25K miles or points however this can still have value with domestic travel.

You can transfer these to Etihad miles to secure 2 pax Y round tickets for 27,600 or 1 pax J round trip when spending the minimum $1,500 at supermarkets or fuel stations

Before you apply for any supplementary cards wait a while, you might get offered 8,000pts to apply for a supplementary card. I have received 2 such offers which I have completed in my kids names. Had I known these possibilities I would have had more kids.

I was finally approved for the card last night, so hopefully you will get your referral points before too long.

I suspect that by the time I receive my card and am able to generate a referral link of my own, the current promotion would have finished. Not to worry, I've done well out of Amex referral bonuses in the past and I am sure there will be similar referral offers in the future.

@2tall4Y Amex have increased the referral amount to referee through the course of this promotion. I think we will see a new promotion shortly after this one ends.

It is also interesting to see that now Amex allow you to refer out of your class. A referred person has the option of applying for a Platinum Charge Card with 200,000 bonus or Amex Explorer card with up to 150,000 bonus. I still think the Platinum edge is in a sweet spot for the money.

Just a reminder, this referral offer is now for 10,000 bonus points.
It is still a great card with many benefits if you need a card now with moderate annual fee of $195. This is offset by a $200 travel credit every year of ownership. I booked a few days away in an IHG hotel this year.

Actually they have at time also allowed out of class renewal though not intentionally. I got a huge amount of points referring for another card a few years ago when due to an Amex quirk they didn’t apply a cap and my referral link for some reason went viral (not complaining).

Amex now offering 50,000 points plus $195 first year fee back. Quite a good deal imo.
