We have an Amex Plat card and been receiving a copy of the Travel+Leisure magazine for free (since we got the card a few years ago). But now Amex has decided to do away with this magazine for Plat cardholders.

Has anyone noticed the same? I do read the magazine each month.

Are you sure? I got last month's issue.

The latest statement of my credit card account confirms that the subscription to T+L will cease from Dec 2009.

I wonder what they're playing at. Are they trying to kill off T+L Australia?

The audited circulation of the magazine was 90,323 in March 2009. I would suggest maybe 1/2 - 2/3rds of that were Amex "subsidised" copies?

I certainly wouldn't have read through the magazine unless it was given to me for free, and there's no chance I would have bought it or subscribed to it separately.

I cancelled my Amex Plat Credit card in November last year and they have continued to send me the T&L, and although I found some of the stories interesting it was mainly adverts.

I believe I would find most travel magazines interesting. But this T&L magazine is usually of very little interest to me.

Yes, Amex said it would cease from Dec 2009. I have received the October issue, and November will be the last one I think.

I have both a plat charge and plat credit card. They've been sending me two copies every month, presumably one for each card i hold. (the credit card was a free card that comes with the charge card)

Would this affect Plat charge holders as well?

I only ever got 1 copy per month. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought T+L is a plat credit rather than plat charge benefit?

I have been getting the magazine, but don't have anything on my statement about it being discontinued, got my most recent statement last week. Only thing on the statement is a note about the Hilton changes.

My copy goes into my reception area after a quick flick. I've only read a handful of articles in the last year I think, so definately won't be subscribing

Every issue T&L mag managed to amuse for around 10 minutes.

I received it as a Plat Credit card hold. No loss ...

So how come i get 2 copies every month? Mind you they get sent at different times as well, not together. Which probably corresponds with the different statement cycles perhaps?

Anyhoo, if it's a glitch in the system, i hope it doesnt affect me coz i actually enjoy reading the T+L magazine. But won't pay to subscribe to it though.

I received 2 a month for a few months, but has only been one copy for the last few months.

I read it every month and will be sorry to see it go. I even went to one of their events once.

I'm one of those that actually enjoys it for a bit of a read (and I don't mind the ads either - so I guess I'm easily pleased :D). It's another small erosion of the benefits associated with the Platinum Credit Card though *sigh*.

I found the guide to European Rail that came with it a few months ago quite timely and handy, but apart from that it never really gets more than a 10 minute flick through.

Well apparently that's exactly what has happened!

Just got my December T & L.... its the final one, and the editors note clearly states that the magazine is closing due to AMEX stopping its distribution as a platinum credit card benefit.

I know from the thread that most ppl here don't mind, but I actually enjoyed getting it (for free) each month, although I also wouldn't have likely payed for an ongoing subscription...

Oh well, something to read today anyway.

I too read it and enjoy it, but not enough to justify cost of subscription.

Another benefit eroded. Ooops, I mean "ehancement".
