Hi everyone, just wondering if you could give me your opinion about this.

I currently hold the AMEX Ultimate card, which gives me 1.5 QFF points per dollar, and a free domestic return ticket per year, which is costing me $395 in annual fee.

I understand that if i wre to apply for the AMEX Platinum charge card, i will be paying A$900 anual fee, but i also get to keep the Ultimate card for FREE. i.e. 2 cards for the price o the Plat Charge card. Which means i still get the free annual domestic return ticket.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, can anyone advise if this is the case? Has anyone got the above combo?

You will have to consider whether spending an extra $500 is worth it especially when, for $395 pa, you still get 1.5 ffp and the free domestic flight.

If you were wanting to go down this path, I'd be looking at replacing the Qantas card with the Amex Platinum Credit Card.

The Plat Credit card is also free when you have a Plat Charge card, but allows for more airline destinations, as well as not forcing you to credit points to Qantas. Same amount of points.

The only real difference is if you charge Qantas flights to the card where the Plat Credit card would be 1.5 points/$ whereas the Qantas card would be 2.5 points/$ I believe.

Just wondering if anyone have any experiences in having their Qantas Amex Ultimate Card annual fee wavied? I had the premium card annual fee waived for next year.

I don't see any point in having two Amex cards. I can buy several domestic flights with the annual fee difference.

Amex will comp you at Qantas Ultimate card if you have a Platinum Charge Card.

Talk to your friendly retention specialist (sounds painful) who can be contacted after you say "I'd like to cancel my card please"

Amex can be a lot more flexible than you would think.

Platinum Charge and QF Ultimate is an interesting combination. Only you can work out if $900 is VFM. Id be looking for 1/2 price first year as has been mentioned in previous posts

Happy trails
