"As of 1 May 2010, the current transfer rate to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program of one Membership Rewards point = 0.6 Qantas Frequent Flyer points will reduce to one Membership Rewards point = 0.5 Qantas Frequent Flyer points."

Is this for real? For all Amex members with reward points?

Which card is this for? My platinum card is still 1:1 transfer.

Amex Spirit program is still 1-1 as well.... Confused, I didn't think you could transfer points from standard
Amex MR at all?!?!

I don't think that applies to Australia:

There you go...it pays to read carefully. The NZ bit gets somewhat lost in the blurb. I only hope the Australians are not next to get the cut. Perhaps good idea to transfer those points accumulating with Amex.

I missed the NZ bit.. gee they get a bum deal!!
Not always; Oz AX MR transfers to Airpoints at 1000:10 unless it's an NZ based airpoints account (still Oz MR) whereby it's ~1000-12.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Depends on the redemption your doing. That's about 6-7% more points based on the two star alliance tables, but all evens out if you're just redeeming on NZ revenue fares.

I am currently getting 2 QFF points for each $ on AMEX for 6 months then down to 1.5 per $ . They rang me to change my AMEX Platinum card to a QFF Amex Ultimate. Extra 5,000 points on 1st use plus another 2,500 for 1st Qantas purchase. Cost of card reduced to $ 250 for 1st year and then $ 450 so I will look at it then, but it does include a return flight on Qantas from Melbourne to Adelaide, Sydney, Hobart and I think Brisbane once a year.

I'm pretty sure that the platinum card also includes the free flight, via the free included platinum credit card. The platinum card also has more flexibility in transferring points to other airlines besides qantas. But the annual fee is a bit higher.

True, but the majority of my airPoints go to GE "Standby Upgrades" - you know - the one that get confirmed up to 355 days out. ;)

I have ANZ Platinum Amex card still get 1.5 points per $.

Yes that is the point EARN, but the point BURN is 1:1 to Qantas. i get 1.5:1 when i spend on the card, but only get 1:1 when I transfer points which is what the page was about.

Plus, of course, that the thread is about a real Amex earning membership rewards.

Btw. 1.5:1 then 1:1 is 1.5:1:1:1 and the 1s "cancel" out to give 1.5:1 as both and earn and burn. (And the anz card is direct earn qf card)
Who says university maths is useless ;)
