Hi,
I have about 200,000 Amex points and want to know what the best use of them is? I am considering travel to the US and was thinking maybe to use some companion ticket programs or upgrades but not sure having never used points previously?

Which program is the best?
Thanks for all help.

marvel :?

Amex

I have been looking at the Amex program too and cannot figure from their website whether you get 1 for 2 or 1 for 1 with the hotel programs. I suspect that it is 1 for 2 which makes them hard to use.

marvel, I also use Amex (along with my wife) as one of my point collecting tools.

Unfortunately for you, I have never the Amex Membership Rewards options as I always transfer the points to my Qantas FF program (to make use of my status when using them). Certainly, the current 1.5 points earning helps those of us who collect points towards award travel.

The best use of them in the QFF program will be dictated firstly by your status and then the time before your travel date that you are booking. Finally, it will depend on the number of points you have in the QFF program and the number you require (whether you use as award flights or upgrades) for their optimal use.

Lindsay, how does your wife feel when they swipe her through the machine?

 sully, actually I was relating more to the fact that my wife is not too bad at assisting me with the collection of said points by using her Amex...I always hope she doesn't spend more than she can afford, because then I'd have to trump up with the remaining $$$'s.

Lindsay, I am relieved because I know you have recently married your lovely spouse. I was feeling a little concerned for her that when the card expired you were going to get a new wife as well!!

I thought that the throw away society had gone a bit crazy.
