Just wondering if anybody has generic information on the rules Amex applies to cancellations

I booked 4 Business Class tickets on Virgin via Amex Platinum Travel.

I used one of my Travel Credits and some points but still shelled out a a fair swag of cash

Two of the group had to cancel. Organised that over the phone with Amex Travel with no issue (other than the wait time)

The refund has just come through (3 months later ) and it appears - using back of the envelope calculations - that Amex has apportioned the entire travel credit and all of the points to the cancelled element.

My travel plans are normally pretty stable and so this is the first time that I've cancelled when using Amex Travel.

There appears to be no invoice detailing the refund calculations - is that normal?

Is it normal to apportion 100% of the travel credit and 100% of the points (used for purchase) to a 50% cancellation?

(I'm not expecting a refund of the Travel Credit just curious as to the inequitable allocation of its use

Any info from those with more experience would be helpful before I make a fool of myself talking with Amex because I can't find to much in the T&Cs
