Amex Velocity Platinum - Discount business class fares

Does anyone have any experience on the actual or quoted discount for business class fares?

I've seen people being quoted a price higher than what is available for retail!
 
IIRC the discount is off the full J fare, which is why a discount fare is often cheaper.
