I thought i would finally get of my backside and do one of these introduction posts, its really generally isn't my style. I put it down to the boredom of currently being unemployed and looking for IT work in Cairns is impossible

Ive been lurking around the forums since Feb 2011, adding my 2c in bits and pieces but in terms of reading I'm basically on here every living hour (ignoring comments from the other half).

In terms of travel i really hadn't done much until Dec 2010 - work got a little interesting with some renovations to one of our sites (shameless plug Home) which resulted in many site trips . Unfortunately they were CNS-MEL, so i went looking for things to make it interesting.

It was Feb 2011 that I did a google search and discovered this site ("Corporate qantas club") is what i was chasing. So i signed up, became a gold member to get my discounted membership.

From there i got reading and learnt about Status Credits, and what they meant in terms of accessing the different tiers. So my CNS-MEL red e-deals initially became CNS-MEL JetFlex, and then CNS-xSYD(or BNE)-MEL FlexiSaver. And with that, within a few months i was a happy QF SG.

Planes have become my new passion, there are 2 tabs that are always open in my browser, AFF and AirwaySim (http://www.airwaysim.com). I also put some time into reading/contributing to WeatherZone and Whirlpool

--- BORING PARTS OF MY LIFE ARE BELOW, I WONT BE OFFENDED IF YOU STOP READING :D ---

Im a born and raised Cairns boy (28yrs now), got married in 2006 and had my first boy in 2008 with another one on the way (due Feb)

Employment has been interesting, started in the family (uncle owned) business straight after school and continued in there until Nov this year (redundancy) - parts of the business were put into receivership in 2009 - so its been an interesting few years.

For those of you who are interested my uncle (Tom Hedley) was a rather large player in the QLD liquor industry, who in 2006 sold the leases to the then Coles Myer group. He retained the freeholds but his CFO convinced him into floating the company owning the freeholds, forming the then "Hedley Leisure & Gaming Property Fund" (now known as Redcape Property Fund http://www.redcape.com.au - no longer associated with the Hedley family). "We" were also large in terms of the construction industry in Cairns & Townsville (Hedley Group - Property Development And Construction: Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane and Port Douglas - Queensland) - but unit sales dried up as well

I can go on with more stuff but i won't bore you all (for now)

Welcome to AFF, but you've been here longer than me;)

From the little I've read about your uncle he sounds like a good bloke & well respected. Let's hope things are better in the new year.
