Long haul premium cabin reviews in newspapers and the like are usually positive to gushing and conclude with '<Author> was a guest of <airline>'.

One in the Oz on-line is a bit different. The writer flew Qantas first class MEL-LAX as a guest of a tech company and 'was upgraded by Qantas'.

Probably pay-walled, sorry.

But the interesting thing is, although the review of the various components of the check-in, flight etc was mainly positive, the review ended:

The verdict
The Qantas slogan “feels like home” is a decade old, and like the airline’s first class offering, it is showing its age. Given the price of the ticket, [$17K] you are better off saving your money and flying business instead. This is a reflection of the quality of the business product. If you do choose to fly business to LA, it’s better to go on a smaller Dreamliner aircraft as it offers a more personalised experience compared with the cavernous A380.

But then again, if they are impressed with QF's business product ...

Yes I read that one the other day. The opposite but I think if you are going to pay up for Premium Economy then the cost isn’t that much less than Business.

I don't disagree with that comment at all tbh.

It IS an old hard product (with minor makeover) and the soft product is below par compared with other main players in the space.

I would fly it over AA F, but certainly not SQ, The ME3, AF etc.

There is a reason many call it J+
