Am I missing something..I’m trying to book Perth Tokyo in 1st week April 2024.
Neither ANA nor Virgin have any flights in April. this is for a paid airfare.
seems flights only go up to March. ANA website is the worst!

You will not find a VA plane flying PER - HND/NRT, they decided on CNS - HND a while ago, and are sticking with it.
NH with a VA flight number, rare, NH with an NH flight number, will probably resume, as Cosi said, wait and see.
If you have to fly soon, and want to lock in prices, SQ via SIN is a good one, takes longer, and might be pricier, but other than backtraking to SYD/CNS, going through/via SIN is the only way.
Hopefully as Cosi said, NH makes up their decision on timings soon on the route you want/need to fly.

All Nippon - ANA are commencing flights ex PER - TYO from 29 Oct, 3 times p.w.
obviously they haven’t loaded schedules in yet, a bit strange. I am in PER, they have been advertising flights and airfares for quite a few months now.

but nothing after March. I thought someone here may know why not.

Extended to 13 April:

What happens after 13 April? Is the route getting the chop or will it be back later in the year?

Hmm. At this stage these flights are still loaded in the GDS from late October 2024 (northern winter) but no seats are available for sale. Looks like ANA isn't really sure yet what it's doing with this route in the long term.

This is worry and will be very disappointing if CANNED.

Have emailed Geoff at Airline ratings to see if he can provide an update.

Personally, would not be surprised if it's canned. The prices when I've looked on the limited days of operation were horrendous ex PER. 10k biz return!! I just laughed and said "um no". Can even go direct to London and back on QF metal for that.

I also saw the time stamp.

Daylight saving does not finish until next Sunday 7th.

Geoff normally lives in Perth, so presume he must be in NSW or Vic for Easter.
Oh yes I only realised that I posted but I wasn't aware he's based in PER

I wouldn't be surprised if it's seasonal. Demand for JP drops off after April and usually doesn't pick up until October/November or so. You can usually see this in the extra sales that routes out of the Eastern states have in those periods compared to Aussie Summer.

Pre covid, it was a daily service.

Last night I was speaking to a local Japanese living in Perth since the 1980's and she new all about it.

Two reasons:

1. As elansin said, lack of demand for the next 5-6 months.

2. Shortage of planes.

But she did confirm the flight would resume in October.

I forgot to post this extract from a ANA email I received last Friday.

G'day, we are ANA

Great news!
ANA is thrilled to announce the resumption of flights from Perth to Tokyo (Narita). Our new flights will be operated THREE* times weekly from 28 October 2024!

Get read to embark on an incredible journey to Japan!

We can't wait to welcome you on board soon!

*Day of Operation: Monday, Thursday & Saturday

Sure beats the small bird via CNS.
At least can stretch the legs without blocking the aisle, as its dual aisled.
Plus with the VAi HND - CNS, no lounge included in pricey fare, unless VAi decides to do a tie in with the new lounge operator will will take over the former lounge at CNS airport, who know...
With the NH service, if flying J, even tho its pricier, there is a lounge access at HND - SYD/NRT - PER, not sure who NH uses at PER T1 tho.

Probably use the third party lounge at T1. Ach you need stamina: i am doing the VA route to HND in Sept as status run for AUD 2,500 return ex PER, BNE, CNS, HND.,🤭🤣 What a hoot plus 6 days in Japan. When I last priced ANA ex PER it was AUD 10,500 biz. Maybe cheaper now who knows.
