I booked a stay at the Anastasis Apartments early this year after seeing that Tripadvisor had rated it the world's most romantic hotel for 2013. Now that I've recently had the chance to compare the hype to the reality I can say that there just is no hype. This is one of those places that ticks boxes that even the opulence of a Burj al Arab in Dubai can't hope to achieve. I still can't believe how Despina and her crew can be so fastidious and committed to making sure their guests have such an unforgettable time. When we asked for an iron she even insisted one of her staff do it because we were there to relax and ironing didn't fit with that - all just part of the service - and free, like the beer and soft drinks in the fridge which was restocked twice a day. So many little things where they went above and beyond........

There is a review of this place by alanslegal in September, 2011, which is quite comprehensive so there's no point in me repeating the details. Take a look at his review and pictures to whet your appetite. A word of warning though: Santorini closes down for half the year and Anastasis is in big demand so you might have to book up to a year in advance to secure your spot.

Enjoy!
