Annoying things that people do when travelling

We applaud, but absolutely no acknowledgement or thanks from the passengers concerned. Such rudeness and inconsideration really annoys me. What pleased me though (and the equally curious bloke sitting next to me) was that the QF FAs went that extra mile to help out, were genuinely pleased when they solved the problem, and coped cheerfully with the lack of recognition from the passengers that they helped. We had a good chat about it later in the flight: goes with the job I suppose.

That sort of behaviour disgusts me. No one has any right to treat someone (especially someone who's doing you a favour) with such disrespect.

People who don't close there bags in overhead lockers. I opened one up once and the contents fell out of someones bag straight on my head : my daughter and the FA thought it was hilarious!!!!!

I agree LAH. Someone opened a locker in front of me when out cascaded various items including a pillow. I followed it's trajectory as if in slow motion. It intersected with the drinks tray of the poor FA who just happened to be passing at that very moment. If it were ten pin bowling it would have been a perfect strike. There was orange juice champagne water allover her and the passenger sitting next to me.

I

I have to admit that I am one of these people, but I actually do this just to be a nice fellow traveller. Why should someone have to move out of their seat for me if I can get to my seat without bothering them?

Getting out of my seat doesn't bother me. People climbing over me, does. They are in my personal space, in a big way.

Solution: aisle seat middle row. This is my preference as I like to get up frequently particularly after some dealing with the QF wines. You would hope window seat passengers choose because of uninterrupted sleep opportunities.

People who decide the seat or tray table is an appropriate place to change a babies nappy. I know you are desensitised to your child's fecal matter, but that doesn't make it hygienic. It's still faeces and the place for that is in the toilet. Im not happy to eat my food off or sit in your child's toilet.

Someone walking through my row (centre seats) twice and waking me up each time. I managed to sleep two hours MEL-LAX so didn't appreciate that. I hate being in the middle of the plane and only choose it because it means both seats have aisle access. Why would you do that anyway? No trolleys in the aisles and if you are going to the toilet there are galleys there to change sides. 2am, no-one busy in the galleys either.
Is it reasonable to fully recline the neighboring (empty) seat to block the row? I will do that next time.

In J from LAX to SYD.
There was a mum, dad & 2 kids (1 was in nappies & the other about 6 yrs).
The 6yr old just kept yelling and throwing a tantrum during the night flight. The parents just put their head phones on and then ignored the little brat.

Then during the night I was heading to the toilet and walked passed dad changing the babies nappy on the seat (in the dark). At that point I felt sorry for the next person. A nappy should be changed in the bathroom.

I'm pretty sure that many airplane toilets are fitted with pull-down baby change tables, however basic they may be. I don't see why people with infants wouldn't use those (when available), although I imagine it's a tight fit in there. Just take in the bare essentials and you can probably manage it.

I have a niece and nephew and I know the dangers of errant wee fountains and Number Three's.... I can't imagine what I would do if I was changing my child on an airplane seat and that happened! Not a pleasant time for those around you either...:!:

Seriously? how inconsiderate and absolutely disgusting is that

It's been a gruelling month, and these are just some of the things I remember :

From my Last couple of flights :

People who pass wind while standing with their back to you where you are seated – more than once!

We were told clearly : rows 1 – 15 board at front of plane, and 16 – 30 at the back. I was in 16 and when I reached 18 (from the rear), suddenly a ‘herd’ of passengers stampeded down the aisle – they had boarded from the front. In vain, I tried to tell them I was in 16, but they continued to push past me literally climbing over the seats!

People who take seat belts off and stand up, and start to retrieve baggage while the plane is still taxiing

People who get out of their seat, retrieve their overhead luggage, then just stand there (even when it isn’t crowded) and ignore you as you try to get out to retrieve your own overhead bags.

People who take your overhead baggage space – and actually move your things to another baggage bin.

People who argue with security over the amount of liquid they have.

People who push past on the escalator just to stop right in front of you! Annoying because you move yourself and your wheelie – thinking they are in a hurry, and then they just stop!

Sorry – have to put this one : Officious ground staff who make announcements like “passengers on board are waiting for you” then you get through and find that the 'whole airbridge’ is crammed full of people waiting to board!

“... and iall ether pessengrs ar wit aing fir yoo”

Class AKL airport chant.

Just did a trip from Brisbane to Sydney yesterday with the armrest hogger. He kept his arm along the armrest for the whole trip and was very surly when I asked him to move when boarding. He also had two bags in the overhead locker above the seats forcing me to put my wheelie in a bin across the aisle. When we arrived at the gate and asked him to pass my bag down as he was blocking the aisle, the response was "you can wait".

Noticed his bag had AMWU on it, so it figures.
