It is time to resurrect the annual dinner in New Zealand. We are heading back to Christchurch on Saturday 9th March.

@blackcat20 and I have yet to choose a venue, however it will be convenient to the city. I plan to book at the CHC DT as it is pretty central. In the past when numbers have grown we have split the bookings to avoid the dreaded set menu/alternate drop scenarios. So a bit of coordination closer to the date may be required. We may also ask for a deposit as we have also had a few no-shows. Again, this will be confirmed closer to the date.

As with all the annual NZ dinners, we like to make a bit of an effort to dress up, so ask that you do too. A level above smart casual please.

See you there!

We already have our flight to CHC and accom sorted, but trying to find a reasonable route back to Melbourne is proving difficult. No one has time for 6am departures 🤢

I am heading home via SYD leaving CHC at 1635. I won't get in until late, so I might just stop in MEL for the night.

Edit: I am going over on EK412 on Friday arriving at 1400.

Unfortunately those options are too late for the little ones. We will prob end up on ANZ via AKL.

A possibility given I spend 50% of the time near CHC (near CHC now)

Yes. :(
Not as easy as it was. That 06:00 departure by NZ & QF to MEL is not for me. As above, the EK(QF codeshare) to SYD and then MEL not too bad for me. Have done CHC-AKL on JQ then QF AKL-MEL. QF156 timings OK. Even looked as CHC-BNE-MEL. Taken the evening ~21:00 JQ CHC-MEL often.

Hotel states it is booked out for those dates.
Looking at flights now

Too early for me to say. I may be in NZ over Easter (several weeks earlier) and I don’t yet know what part of NZ. I also have reservations - as you know :) - with the requested ‘dress code’ which I suspect is not in line with what I imagine is AFF’s inclusiveness policy, but it may well be a moot point anyway.

The details you've all been waiting for!

We have booked a private space called Hugh's Whisky Library which is at Bloody Mary's in Central Christchurch, with space for up to 30 guests.
The cost for the evening will be $AUD100 which covers an hour of canapes, which will allow everyone some time to socialise, before we sit down for a three-course meal. You will be able to select each course from the menu provided on the night (no alternate drop!). Drinks will be at your own expense.

To secure your spot at the dinner, please view payment details in the linked spreadsheet, and use your username as the description for the payment. This payment will be refunded if you find yourself unable to attend, up until the cut-off date (TBA) where numbers will have been finalised, after which time you will need to find someone to take your spot or forgo your payment. Please note the bank details are not the same as those for the Christmas dinner.
