We are back at home, today the weather was cold and miserable with rain rolling in and out all day, some heavy some light so we made the best of what we could. We headed back to Mt Schank on the way the heaven opened and I wondered if a second attempt was going to be possible. By the time we arrived it had cleared I let the girls it was time to leg it.

About 2/3 of the way I heard MissM calling out I am not built for this 😆 when I turned around there was a rainbow so a picture was in order and just ignored MissM

At the top looking into the crater, we did consider walking around or to the bottom but the rain started to roll back in so we left. IMG_3650.jpeg
Next stop was the Blue Lake and by now rain has heavy so we waited in the car when it cleared time for a quick dash to grab some snaps and with 5-10 minutes the rain was back.

Nothing to do with the TR but after getting back to the 'truck' as the girls call it I realised I had a job to do and grabbed the ipad and got to work. After a few minutes bookings to London had been sorted, I had been watching the SQ seat release dates so I knew that today they would open but the change to daylight saving had thrown out my timing.

I went for a walk around town and came across the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre and learnt something new. I had always thought that volcano lakes were a caldera but according to the movie the ones in Mt Gambier are a Maar. That is the limit of my newfound knowledge as I thought volcano lakes (caldera) sinkholes and now maars were all one in the same. So the next spot we went to was the Umpherston sinkhole, what inspired anyone to create a garden in a sinkhole is beyond me but it was beautiful.IMG_3668.jpegIMG_3667.jpegIMG_3677.jpegIMG_3673.jpegIMG_3672.jpeg

We visited a couple of other sites Engelbrecht Cave which was not open and the the Railway Lands which was not what I thought it would be so no photos. Last place on the list was the Centenary Tower, to get there it is a bit of a hike but not too hard and again we started off in light rain but by the time we got to the top is was heavy and cold. We went into the tower for the small fee just because it was indoors, shortly after the chap who was collecting the donations appeared on the second level and said as we were the only ones here he would open the roof access for a look if we agreed not to climb onto to the roof. No argument from us but I will admit I did plan to get onto the roof until I stuck my head out then climbed a few more rungs it was so dam windy that I was somewhat concerned I would have been blown off the roof. So photos in descending order.

Coming home via Keith I have no idea why a centurion tank would be kept within a cage I have seen Leopards in Canberra and Mt Gambier out in the open

At Coonalpyn I hit the breaks when I saw this. I am sure I have seen/ read other TRs or threads mentioning painted silos has become a thing, I had just not seen it before this evening. The information about the silo art states they were designed and completed in 2017.
