Hi everyone. I've read through some stuff on this forum numerous times in the past but only just signed up today. I'm trying to organise some rewards flights and it's doing my head in at the moment. What a learning curve. I'll start a new thread in the Flight Search Assistance section and see what comes of that.
Cheers

PS - I've just realised that I need to have been a member of AFF for 30 days before I can post in the Flight Search Assistance section. Bummer.

Yeah certainly, any assistance would be much appreciated JohnK.

To cut a long story short, my wife has booked a cruise for the 2 of us in the 2nd half of May 2015. The cruise is from Barcelona to Dubai, so we were thinking that we might fly to Paris at the start of May, then slowly make our way down to Barcelona to board the ship. At the end of the cruise we would just fly home from Dubai (to Sydney). I have a bit over 500k Amex MR points, a bit over 250k QFF and a bit over 100k velocity points. I have spent so much time looking at how I can use these points to get business flights for the 2 of us from Sydney to Paris and from Dubai to Sydney (this leg would be at the start of June). The QFF points seem to be next to useless but I'm hopeful that someone could come up with a strategy to make things work in some form or other. I'm wary of going MH in case they stop flying the long-haul legs to Europe and we end up having to sort flights out all over again. Other options seem to be SQ, TG and CX. TG seats don't seem to get many good reviews although I flew on a TG 747 a couple of years ago for work and managed to get to sleep okay. SQ is a more direct route so would be preferable to CX if everything else was equal.

I would really appreciate some guidance from those here. And I'm more than happy to throw some of the coloured stuff in the direction of whoever can help us out.

Your 500,000 Amex MR points transfer to Velocity at 1:1 giving you 600,000 Velocity points. Occasionally there are also bonus points on the transfer. The last one was 15%? Amex MR also transfer to SQ.

These points should be enough for 2 x business class awards SYD-CDG on either SQ or EY and then AUH-SYD on EY. You would need to make your own way DXB-AUH.

You don't need a thread for Flight Assistance.

What you need is a thread in the Velocity sub-forum (or Your Questions sub-forum) detailing what you have mentioned above and ask for suggestions.
