Thanks markis10! Eyes will be firmly peeled tomorrow morning.

'Tactical Fares' will no doubt just be the names given to these sale tickets like the 'USA Deal' we've seen before or the current 'Go New Zealand Sale'?

Thank goodness for that, been trying to book a J class return to LHR for Sep and the prices have been eye-watering

My friend managed to book with AA miles, J via KUL. Also had choice of CX via HKG.

That would be wayyy cheaper. But you would already know that.

Need more points?

Unfortunately this "QFi Sale" needs to be renamed "Emirates EK415 from Sydney Sale".

Just looking at flights to NCL and nothing has changed since last night so I looked a bit more and found the following note at the bottom of the LHR sale conditions:

Flights are via Dubai. For travel on Emirates operated services: travel from Sydney permitted on early morning EK415 (QF8415) only; travel between Dubai and London permitted on EK005/EK006 (QF8005/QF8006), EK007/EK008 (QF8007/QF8008), and EK029/EK030 (QF8029/QF8030) only.

On the face of what I have seen, other destinations in Europe appear limited to EK415 (QF8415) as far as Dubai and then EK codes to final destination. Or at least that is what I am taking from the sale conditions at the bottom of the page.

Qantas does not seem to be bringing a lot to this one and the 'Tactical Sale' now seems to be referring to filling the 06:00 EK415 departure from Sydney as it is obviously the poor earner out of all the QF/EK flights! :(

I cannot see anything relating to Asia or Business fares yet so here is hoping that there is more to come.

Asia is there, slightly dearer than last time, be interesting to see how the European specials come up in Brazil.

Thats the way I read it at first too, but I think it actually means you can use Qantas services, but if you use Emirates ones you can only use the following ones.

Didn't see any LHR J specials - still running at about $9.6K to $10.6K in September. Glad I have my 7K special booked and confirmed from March.

I just went on the EK website and noticed that they have the same sale now on... I had a quick look at the fare conditions and they seem to be more flexible in relation to flight applicability (ex-MEL) compared to what's on QF:

Flight Applicability
  • Valid on Emirates flight EK441 for travel from Adelaide to Dubai.
  • Valid on Emirates flights EK405/409 for travel between Melbourne and Dubai.
  • Valid for any Emirates flight for travel between Dubai to Europe.
  • Valid for any Emirates flight for travel between Dubai to Adelaide/Melbourne.
  • Note: Not valid on Emirates flight EK407.

LHR is coming up as $1050 return if you go to the same dates as Qantas has its $1805 sale

Someone reported on OzBargain that Qantas rang him to say that his expedia.com.br booking was invalid, because supposedly the fare didn't include all the necessary taxes (namely the Fuel Surcharge, Australian Passenger Movement Charger, and Australian International Passenger Service Charge).
