Ok, I think I've reached the brink of insanity here, but once I know what I want it is pretty much set in my mind that IT WILL HAPPEN

So I want to fly to Perth in January... after searching for fares I've come to the conclusion that to fly DJ and to get the times/flights that I want to fly on (A330 centric) it will cost just as much as going via NZ so I've come up with this... by booking it as a mix of seperate and connecting tickets the price comes up as about $1032 round trip (BARGAIN!)

My question is... is there any better way to ticket this? either to bring the price down a bit or get a few more flights for my buck (I don't mind altering the route or dates at all, so long as I stick to either NZ or DJ)

Possible alternatives were/are:

HBA-MEL-AKL-OOL-SYD-PER-MEL-HBA (PER-SYD was very pricey)
HBA-MEL-AKL-PER-AKL-MEL-HBA

Itinerary as it stands at the moment is as follows:

Thats a pretty good price for Peak season January. Better book it quick :)

I think you are crazy. But if you can pull it off, it's a great way to earn SCs.

Just remember you'll need a passport for the trip.

Lol this is amazing, I love how you are going to fly to NZ and then to Perth from Hobart.

What class are you doing this in?

Looks like a pretty creative itinerary, but I wonder what is motivating it? Do you just want to be up in the air for as long as possible or are you interested in maximisng SCs? If the latter is the case, remember that for flights on a single ticket, SC are not given for each leg separately, but on the basis of the distance from origin to destination.

This is not exactly correct. It depends on how they are booked. For example if PER SYD and SYD HBA are a "married" pair, that is they are sold as a single fare, luggage is transferred and single check in on the one flight you will only get the SC for PER HBA. However if it is 2 seperate fares on two bookings you will get SC for PER SYD and SYD HBA.

Depending on many "unmarried" sectors are booked will give different SC earn.

BTW Josh I think you are just a little bit crazy taking it on but I love the creativity and the price. That is not much more than my HBA AKL return DJ fare of this week!

Didn't I state the very same? What you called "married sectors" or "sold as a single fare", I called "flights on a single ticket".

Yes you are right, and it just goes to prove that old habits die hard! Having been a Travel consultant for many years "a single ticket" just has a different meaning for me, but in the case of DJ you are technically correct ... A single ticket is always a married sector with them!

So if you buy a multi stage ticket, they consider it one ticket???

...
Other than a basic return or two one-ways with an "Open Jaw", I'm not sure you can do a multi-stage ticket (at least on-line).
