There are a few credit cards that give you silver/gold status for hotel as long as you keep the card account open. Just wondering, is there any cards do the same for airlines?

Velocity FF recently had a promotion where if you transferred 500,001 from your Amex Platinum Charge, you would get Platinum.

That's right.
They had a similar promotion last year, and ran the same promotion again this year.

250,001-500,000 20% + Gold Tier for 12 months
Over 500,001 25% + Platinum Tier for 12 months

There's some chatter about it in the Amex forum.

This is a bit indirect but the Amex Platinum Charge gives you Jade status with Shangri La's Golden Circle program. You can then use the Jade status to get Silver status on KrisFlyer and access to a Gold status challenge where you just need to fly three flights on SQ or MI within four months.

Thanks, but this is not a "card life time" status

Yeah, unfortunately after you get it you'll need to meet KrisFlyer's normal requirements.
Still, the points bonus means you could potentially rack up quite a few extra points in that time.
