I'm flying in Business SYD-SIN on the QF A380 on 16JAN and using points to register for an upgrade to First...I'm Platinum status if that makes any difference.

Does anyone know if QF actually gives the upgrade even with seats available or are they going to be 'protective' of their new product for a while and let the seats go empty?

I was amazed you are even allowed to request upgrade to First on A380 - I thought they would go down the track of SQ with their Suite Class where there is absolutely no redemptions or upgrades.

Thanks.

I don't know as haven't tried. Are you able to let us know how you go?

thks

QF31 on the 16th is the Inaugural A380 flight to Singapore and London. Your chances of a upgrade on that particular flight are next to 0. First is already showing full. I do know people have been successful though on flights to/from LAX, you just picked a bad day to try for an upgrade.

Hi milehighclub - thanks for looking that up...Business will still be good I'm sure. Thanks for letting me know that some people have managed to get it...I was under the impression they don't do it even with seats available.

I guess this particular flight might be full of VIPs seeing it is the first A380 flight to SIN/LHR.

Do you think QF is planning anything special at the gate or something to commemorate this?

Thanks,

Thanks,

It is only QF's 1st 388 service to LHR; SQ is already flying the route. QF has been running 388s since october so wouldnt expect them to have anything particularly special

I don't agree Dave.

The QF PR machine will milk everything that's possible.
