Asked Doctor for Panavax the other day, got it. Had to fill in a long consent form! Said AUS Gov wasted so much money as the busy surgery I go to has not had much intake, and that's the consensus from other Doctors too.

Hopefully it doesn't mutate too much over next winter. Panavax is going to be incorporated into next years fluvax.

No but I think I brought back a case of H1N1 from LA this week!
No worse than normal flu, which isn't saying much because I hate the flu.

I wonder if I should get tested?

I went to the doctor last week for my aviation medical (another story) and I was offered the vaccine without asking.

I signed a simple form and that was that without issue. I was told that the Australian Government has 22 million vaccinations prepared and it is available to all without question.

It was quick, simple and easy and without any obvious side effects.

Similar experience here. My medico routinely offers it to all and since I'm in a high risk group, i took it.

I just wish this rash would go away though :!:   :p ;)

(Only kidding)

I have a "sore muscles" feeling .... usually get this after any fluvax type .... :( said that would be a possible side effect.

Unless you are in a high risk group, there is little sense in getting vaccinated - IMHO.

Yes - had it. No side effects. It is recommended for anyone travelling to USA or Europe now as they are going into Winter and a second strain is expected.

Yes my wife and I had the jabs recently as we are off to New York next week and will thus be entering their flu season. So I thought it prudent.

Easy process. No cost.

My wife had a slightly sore arm later that day and then ok the next.
I had no reaction.

My wife and I had the shots a few weeks ago as we fall into a couple of high-risk categories (expectant parents and frequent travellers to the USA). No cost, about 10 minutes total at the surgery and no side effects.

I was my doctor about ten days ago, to get prescriptions before flying to New Mexico last Friday. He offered the vaccination (which I accepted) and commented that this was the worst winter (Sydney) that he had ever seen for patients presenting with flu. No side effects from the jab.

Whilst in NM yesterday I noticed in USA Today that school closures were happening due to the large number of students sick with the flu.

Interested in how your wife fared after the vaccine? My pregnant sister is currently debating whether or not to have it. I think the risk of NOT having it outweighs the small chance of complications. ( Several deaths from the "Swine flu" amongst pregnant women in Britain)

I had my shot today, along with Typhoid and Polio (going to Egypt). No side effects

All of us that fly regularly are high risk, but my job also put me in that category.
Had sore arm and joint ache for 24hrs, but that's usual for me after the "normal" flu jab.
They haven't tested for H1N1 in WA for over a month now. I probably brought back a dose from HKG as took me 2 weeks (instead of 3 days) to feel well again.

The Doc gave me the shot today after giving me another booster that I needed. It was an easy process - shot in the arm and walk out the door.

He did mention that he gave himself the shot last Friday and felt really ill on the Monday. So ill that he cancelled his appointments and went home.

He said that he couldn't pin point it down to the vaccine but he was pretty certain it was the cause.

I'm not worried. Had H1N1 once and never want it again.

I will be getting mine on Monday as I'm off to Europe in 2 weeks...I will keep the documentation that I have had the H1NI vaccine so I can show quarantine officers in case they stop me for a fever or something similar....

She didn't really have any side effects from the shot - she mentioned the injection point was a bit sore for a day or so thereafter but none of the other side effects the nurse advised when administering the shot (headaches, flu-like symptoms etc etc). Similarly I didn't have any side effects myself either.

We originally asked our Obstetrician whether we should get the shot - she had absolutely no hesitation telling us to get the shot ourselves and recommended that our parents also get the shot if planning to spend time with the baby.

FWIW my wife was 32 weeks when we got the shot.

I had the vaccine.

I couldn't tell if I had any side effects or not, because I was tired from sleep deprivation, sore-muscled from carrying my luggages around, and had a bit of a cold anyway. Even if I did have some side effects, it couldn't have been bad because I was fine two days later.

I agree completely. Not worth the risk.

But I do get the seasonal flu jab every year. It's been properly tested over the years and is a relatively known quantity. Real flu isn't very nice.

Oh, and I should say I'm also in the age group that seems to be least affected by the H1N1 virus.
