As a hypothetical of course, when people click on the drop down list for Singapore online redemptions do they see one or two redemption vouchers available for selection in the Promotion Code drop down?

Would be a nice Christmas present if there really were two redemption vouchers available for redemption.

Just one for me from memory, and the drop-down box disappeared after I used it.

More than happy if Santa wants to bring another one :)

Was very disappointed if we are talking about the Westpac platinum redemption and the up to 50% discount on flights and upgrades.

Collectively we platinum card holders waited a year to get this only to find out the discount was only redeemable between Jul 1 2010 and Jan 1 2011. All my international flying is in the first half of the year. (I've gone ahead and booked Air Asia to Europe in May 2011)

However talking with KrisFlyer this afternoon and Jul to Jan 2011 may only be the redemption period. It looks like you can fly later than this.

Was hoping it could be used cross Tasman on a Star Alliance Air NZ flight but the discount only applies to SQ flights.

Interesting point and one I hadn't fully thought about. The T&Cs on the offer say

Account holder must redeem the offer and complete travel within 6 months.

Can anyone shed light on it. Depending on where you put the pause changes the meaning.

Book and then travel within 6 months of the booking date; or

Book and travel within the 6 months of the voucher dates.

The complete conditions from the link on the SQ site read:

Westpac Platinum

The redemption and travel period is strictly between Jul 2010 and Jan 1 2011. So all travel has to be done by Jan 1. This is what I originally thought and was confirmed by a call back from SQ CS last Fri. The discounts are pretty decent (30,000pts for an economy flight Melb to Singapore + taxes which are about $300). But the travel time IMHO is far too narrow. It should have been Jul 1 2010 to Jun 30 2011.

The redemption and travel period is strictly between Jul 2010 and Jan 1 2011.

I went and checked on my printed coupon that I received from SQ. It is printed with a validity window of 1 October 2010 - 31 March 2011.

It looks like there is always going to be a six month window to book and travel, but cards may have different time slots.

Perhaps there is some scope for individual card holders to go back to Westpac and negotiate the timing of the coupon issue.

I didn't seek to change the timing with Westpac this year, it is just when it arrived. Annual card renewal was in May.

Hi Albatross without closing the door on your comment I had a chat with SQ last Friday and during the first call the CSO told me you only had to redeem between Jul and Jan 2011, not travel. About 10 mins later she phoned back to say "Sorry the redemption and travel periods are the same. End Jan 1 2011"

And if you try and put in any non SQ routes (like Australia to NZ direct), the special offer pulldown disappears.

Hi, this is my first time posting. So forgive me if I step on anyone's toes.

My 2c:
- The terms and conditions are correct in that you must redeem AND travel during the stated period on the voucher

However, the voucher itself is badly written. In big bold letters on the front it clearly states you must redeem within that period and only in the description (about 3/4 of the way down the page in small font and also in the T&C's in even smaller font) does it say you must redeem AND travel within the stated period. Furthermore, (and this is the kicker) the big bold font on the front should have had an asterisk which would clearly indicate there are additional T&C's attached. So with the fact that there was no asterisk AND the text was both contradicting and misleading, I was able to book my flight. However, arguing and ensuring this was heard and recorded took some time and was not an immediate outcome.

To get to this stage, the helpdesk person submitted an appeal on my behalf and after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, it was eventually successful (after 1 decline) over a period of 2 weeks.

I MUST stress that as with any customer feedback I:
- was patient with their explanations whilst ensuring my point was heard
- was not ever rude to the staff
- on any occasion they returned my call (and there were a number of these), I made a note to ask "How are you?" as I would to any work colleague
- did not cut the staff member off, but when I talked was firm and mentioned what I said above
- upon successfully booking my flight, mentioned that I appreciated having to only contact a single person and also following up my appeal on my behalf.

I geniunely hope this assists others who are also caught in my situation where I neglected to read the T&Cs because they were not clearly indicated AND by following the steps on the front of the voucher, was unable to book an award flight.

I also hope that someone from the Krisflyer co-brand department reads this thread and adjusts the T&Cs to state "Redeem from X-date to X+6months for travel before X-date+1year". This would ensure that I (along with every other SIA fan) get what they expect and also enjoy using and saving points.

The voucher system has certainly had problems and possibly that is one of the contributing factors to the end of the vouchers.

Welcome to AFF daoople.
