Hello,

I have to transfer a large sum of USD for payment of a safari, & came across this company- Hifx. Does anyone have any experience with this exchange company? Or would it be best to just use my cc & suck up the transaction fees? I paid the deposit by cc, & the transaction fees were more than $100, which i feel was exhorbitant. Is there a cheaper but still safe alternative to my cc?

TIA

It only is free to other Citibank accounts :( Otherwise it is the same price.

I've used Money Move It, which is a Kiwi Company. They seemed professional, and the prices were reasonable. Online Money Transfers. Send Money the Cheapest Way | Money Move IT

Maybe they need to fix their advertising!

Free international money transfers from Australia to any account, anywhere in the world.

Edit - I also note the overseas fee is listed under the heading for fees that says (excludes the transaction account). I have done one TT to a non citibank account and was not charged.

That would have been a lot easier, especially as I have an account (I must learn to read fineprint properly - as it says $25 in the same line which put me off, but Plus members get a waiver). Needless to say, Money Move It appeared to be professional - with emails advising the vendor the money was coming CC to me, etc. The only thing I didn't like was there was no option for SWIFT when entering IBAN details. SWIFT strictly speaking isn't necessary, but it is insurance when you are entering a long IBAN String.

Hi there,

I've not tried HiFX but I have used Azimo. I saved a fair bit with them rather than using my bank, who want to charge me silly amounts! It's safe with Azimo too and the money is transferred in 48 hours max. It's worth having a look and seeing if you can save some money :o)

We use American Express Forex at our agency. All web based, convenient and I am constantly surprised at the rates.

A client who pays us through our merchant facility with their credit card on the AUD conversion rate, plus a credit card fee will still end up ahead when compared to what it would have cost them if they had just used their credit card to pay in the foreign currency. The USD rate is particularly good.

A family member used HiFx and found that they have pretty good service. Unfortunately transfer didnt work out, however customer service was good and didnt get passed from person to person.

Also check out OzForex, their rates are marginally better.
