I have an ANZ FF Visa and Amex credit card and wish to upgrade to the Platinum level. The annual fee of $295 would more than cover our annual overseas travel insurance (we cruise at least once a year).
My main concern is whether the travel insurance is only available for the cardholder(self) or can I include my husband as well? Can anyone shed light on this? No point applying for a more expensive card if I can't do this.

Note that you may be able to get an upgrade to Platinum and continue paying the annual fee you currently pay, rather than $295. I have a Frequent Flyer standard card and have received an offer to upgrade a no extra cost several times in the last couple of years. Even if you haven't received an offer, I would call them and ask whether they can offer it to you. There are a couple of provisos though:1. Your current limit needs to be higher than the Platinum threshold of either $5K or $8K (can't remember which for ANZ);2. You will supposedly retain the existing points and annual fee - My card is an old grandfathered card which earns something 1:1 for the first $1,500, 1:2 for the next 2,000, then either nothing or 1:4. Std annual fee of $95 and no Amex card (I've never bothered to ttake it up). I haven't yet upgraded as I was on a special rate which would not have applied. Also they couldn't confirm in writing what point structure would apply.

Saw the ANZ people today and this upgrade may be possible without extra fees. It's $6000 min threshold for the ANZ Platinum FF. Thanks for the notes on this.
