Per the title, ANZ rewards offering a very generous 180k rewards points with zero fee for the first year. Some other particulars,
  1. $15k minimum limit (as with all Black cards),
  2. $2k spend needed in first 3 months.
  3. Is distinct from ANZ Frequent Flyer Black which earns QFF points
  4. Can't have had the card for 12 months (doesn't matter if you have had card mentioned in point 3 above)

ANZ rewards have always been able to transfer to airlines; Krisflier 3 to 1, AirMiles 3 to 1, VFF 2 to 1 (this remains paused however) and Air NZ 3k points for 15 airpoints.

A bog standards gift card (say Coles or Wish) is around 22k points for $100 voucher

Here 'tis Rewards Black credit card | ANZ

I ended up going this card at the end of April and it has turned out to be grouse.

Had some big bills so spent 5k which gave 10k ANZ points, then the 180k ANZ sign up points were credited. Just transferred the lot to Velocity which given the 30% for the month of May gives 125k VFF points.

Nice. I have recently got this card as well. I am still debating whether to transfer to VA or SQ once the 180k points drops to my account,

If you're going to go VA, if you can do so before the end of the month to get the 30% bonus. I considered the SQ points but I did need VA points and the 30% swayed me.

I was paid the 180k points quite quickly also, so hopefully the same could happen for you. I'd only had the account a couple of weeks and a statement come through. The start date I think was around the time I made the application.

So taking the 30% bonus points into account... would it be better to transfer 180k ANZ Rewards into VA, then transfer them into SQ?
Or go straight to SQ from ANZ Rewards?

You cannot transfer from VA to SQ. That offer was closed since early last year.

Does anyone know what the minimum income requirement for this card is? Are they strict about the same ?

If one gets rejected for the black card can one switch the application to a platinum ?

I don't believe it mentions anywhere but being a black card I would anticipate $75k (Platinums are generally $30 or $35k can't remember which of the two). I'm not sure how strict they are with income if you are your income limit.

I see no reason to not re-apply for the Platinum if income was a problem, but you may get 2 hits on your credit file.

Got my 180k through just after the window closed for transfer bonus.

Main question now is - if I close the card does my reward account close with it? I've not got an immediate need for the points so am happy to wait for the next transfer window (likely November) but the quicker you close, the quicker you can apply again  .

I have other banking with ANZ so won't lose my CRN etc. but can't find much doco around the rewards account itself and whether it's tied directly to the card or the user.

Too quick to post hah.

Managed to find this in the reward Ts and Cs:
"In the event your card account is closed, any Reward Points that remain unused must be used within 90 days of the date of closure. Reward Points that remain unused after that period will be cancelled."

So to fully guarantee the 180k points are there in November I need to backtrack 90 days; so the earliest I'd aim to close is just after the start of August.

I'd hold off and close when the next promotion comes on just in case they change the times. I also understand it is difficult to do things with your points within the 90 days as I think (I might be wrong) you have to ring up for the operator to perform the transaction.

Can I assume this promo still valid to sign up now? I can't find the 'apply by' date on the page.

Still a valid offer on the website - so I think you're good to go. Not sure when it is valid to.

I have also received my 180K points and not sure where to transfer them to, VA, KF or Asia miles. I am also keen on the VA promo if it comes around again.
Any recommendations?

VA promo has usually been a May + November thing, so I'm thinking it comes around again in 6 weeks. Promo is usually 15% but ANZ often tips in their own bonus to make it 30%.

So it's almost 120k Velocity vs 60k AM/KF. After that consideration, it's basically down to what you want to use them for... KF and AM give you a chance to redeem for premium cabins on widebody international (if that's your thing) whereas you'll get more domestic flights out of the Velocity points but only on 737s or smaller.

Thanks, I'll close my account and take advantage of the 90 days and transfer to VA, then I'll transfer to KF if needed. VA's international options are very limited so not very keen on that but that seems the best option for now.

I'm mainly interested in international reward seats, business rewards mostly.

Have gone the same way: account closed, wait for VA bonus.

Just be aware that VA -> KF transfers are suspended and may not come back, so the points could be stuck in Velocity for a while.

For the non-Qantas cards, I think Velocity/Virgin is still the Airline to transfer to during these times. Travelling with Singapore Airlines still a bit of a question mark at this point. Might wait until the potential late year 15-20% bonuses they have. Could be Status credits as well like last November.

I just got this card. Gee they ask a lot of follow up questions.... more than I have ever had ( for a credit card) though it was all done quickly.

My application was quite long and painful. Namely because they never called at the day/time they asked me to nominate, and I'd always be on another call/meeting when they eventually did. That process repeated for just over a month before they dropped it and just approved me anyway.
