I found this website. It shows different colours for different modes, if you sign up and pay you can follow the roads etc instead of just a straight line, change the icons etc. Dates you can put in on the free version. Pretty cool.
Rome2@Rio was my go to for a long time, but it seems to generate a lot of popups and other fluff now. Think it was developed by some Aussies too..Probably thinking of Rome2rio (https://www.rome2rio.com/), but AFAIK doesn't allow building an actual mixed-mode itinerary.

First thing I notice about it is that it doesn’t handle railways, seemingly at all. The search function will not find any railway station I’ve used in Japan. So if I choose an airport then a place at the railway destination like the Marriott at shin-Osaka station, it draws the default straight line between two and then you can edit it manually but to do that you have to know the rail route!!Thanks! Going to give it a paid try for a month to see how it goes with my current trip.
Yes, I noticed there was a road option for bus but not a rail route option. Manual would be very time consuming!!First thing I notice about it is that it doesn’t handle railways, seemingly at all. Maybe with time and experience, I’ll find a better way to do it.
